วันนี้ได้ลองดาวน์โหลด Nexenta 3.0 Beta  มาลอง ทดสอบดูครับ โครงการนี้เป็นการผสมผสานระหว่าง Opensolaris กับ Ubuntu โดยใช้ Kernel เป็น Opensolaris แต่ สามารถใช้ apt-get ในการติดตั้งโปรแกรมลงไปได้ครับ อันนี้คือภาพ เมื่อติดตั้งเสร็จเรียบร้อยแล้ว

โดยเมื่อติดตั้งเสร็จจะได้หน้าจอเป็น Text Mode ครับ ดำสนิทเลย

ดูชัดๆ ว่าใช้ kernel อะไร

เนื่องจากระบบไม่ได้ติดตั้งกราฟิคมาให้ครับก็ติดตั้งเองเลยโดยพิมพ์คำสั่งนี้

# aptitude install x-window-system

# aptitude install gnome

แล้วรอสักพัก

จากนั้นเมื่อติดตั้งเสร็จ ก็ลองเปิดกราฟิคด้วยคำสั่ง startx ดูครับ

ได้หน้าจอดังนี้ (อารมณ์ Debian+Ubuntu นิดๆ )

ลองเปิดไฟล์ดูข้างใน สังเกตได้ว่าการจัดวาง directory ไม่เหมือน Linux เท่าไหร่ครับ (ก็เพราะมันเป็น Opensolaris นิ)

โปรแกรมยังไม่มีอะไรมากครับ เด๊่ยวว่าจะลองติดตั้ง apache ทำเป็น webserver ดู

หลังจากที่ปล่อย Opensolaris มาให้ทดลองใช้เป็นระยๆ ก็มาถึงตัวทดสอบที่ 129 ครับ อันนี้ผมลองติดตั้งเสร็จเรียบร้อยแล้ว ได้หน้าจอออกมาสวยงามเป็นโทนสีน้ำเงิน ใช้ Gnome เป็น Desktop Manager ครับ

โดยเมื่อติดตั้งแล้วเราสามารถพิมพ์และอ่านภาษาไทยได้ทันทีครับ แต่เจอปัญหาตัวหนังสือกระโดด เลยเปลี่ยน font  ใหม่เป็น Loma ครับ เพื่อการแสดงผลที่ดีขึ้น

การติดตั้ง font Loma ก็ดาวน์โหลดมาก่อนโดยใช้คำสั่ง

# wget ftp://ftp.nectec.or.th/pub/NECTEC/fonts/Loma.tar.gz

# tar -xvzf Loma.tar.gz

# cd Loma

# cp * /usr/share/TrueType

จากนั้นก็ไปปรับฟอนต์เป็น Loma ก็สามารถอ่านตัวหนังสือได้แบบไม่กระโดดแล้วครับ

อันนี้คือ feature หลักๆ ของ NetBSD 4.0 ครับ ยังไม่เคยได้ลองใช้เลย กำลังคิดว่าจะโหลด Source มาลอง ศึกษาดู เอาเป็นว่าเดี๋ยวถ้า มีเครื่องว่างที่ทำงานค่อยจับมาลงดูดีกว่า
